beginning_php thread: html pages won't process PHP

Message #1 by "Peter Kaufman" <kaufman@l...> on Sat, 27 Apr 2002 12:58:10 +0700
Hi,

Here's a real newbie question for you... I am using W2K Server with IIS.
Pages with htm or html as the extension do not process PHP code. The
page looks like this:

" . urlencode($v) . "
" . $after[$k] . "
" ); } ?> " . imap_qprint($after[0])); ?> " . urlencode($v) . "" );
if($decoded == $v) { print("
" . urlencode(\$decoded) . "
" ); } else { print("

However, if I save it as *.php, its okay. What do I have to change?

Thanks,

Peter

You will have to change extension to php.

Any page with PHP code that you want processed by the PHP interpreter
MUST have an extension that PHP will recognize to parse: usually
that's .php

I myself am also new to php and I've always had the impression that in or
der
to get the php parser to realize that it's needed for a certain page you
had
to give it an extension relevant to the ones set for IIS to recognize and
call upon php for, otherwise IIS will assume it's incorrect syntax. Wiho
ut
the proper extension a file won't be recognized and processed by the prop
er
application. Just like any other application your run in Windows.=0D
