beginning_php thread: Upload Thermometer for php Uploads

Message #1 by "Turner Wilson" <turner9645@y...> on Wed, 11 Sep 2002 02:03:50
Anyone know of a good way to display file upload progress (thermometer) in
php?

Also, having problems with large file sizes (anything near the 2mb. limit)
and the LARGEBLOB parameters have been set to 2gb.

PHP is a server side script, which means (for the most part) that nothing is
sent to the client until the script finishes it's job. You can force the
current output buffer to be flushed to the screen occasionally, but there's
no guarantee that the browser won't store incoming HTML in some cache buffer
until it has enough to render a page.

Without having some application on the client with a direct communication
link to the server, there's not really an elegant way to complete your task.
