beginning_php thread: Nik's fabulous help

Message #1 by "Juliet May" <jmay@s...> on Wed, 18 Sep 2002 15:47:06 -0600
Nik,

When are you going to write a book so I don't have to keep my inbox full of
your pearls of wisdom?

Julie

P.S. A nice website containing your programming ideas that you have written
in your posts would probably do just as well :)

Thanks for the compliment! But I don't have enough time... as always, huh?

May be atleast something like putting together the different solutions Nik
had given through this site by digging into the archives and posting in
one site dedicated only to his solutions.
Ideas/Suggestions?
Thanks
Sri

Okay, this is getting out of hand!

I'll try to put something up soon. For the time being, if anyone has any
requests for "articles" or whatever, let me know and I'll see what I can put
together.

I still don't think that my own site would do the language justice -- I'd
really like a site like PHPBuilder to emerge from this, but I've read too
many shabby articles with wayyy too many bugs in the code at other places,
that sometimes I wonder if I'm just fooling myself.

For starters, I might as well just install some forum style CMS, just so I
don't have to worry about doing all the backend programming myself. It is,
after all, the CONTENT that matters, right?

Maybe I'll get the site running in time for my birthday; give myself a
present by going live on the day...

Take care,

nik

We could have a testimonial site to Nik too, but that might be bigger
than the 'Niks Tips' site....and deservedly so...:):)

I've said my idea before, I'll say once again, email archives could be a good way for messages for Wrox
to be auto archived.

I would be willing to contribute some articles (if you would want
something I wrote =)

I've been meaning to sit down and write some sort of tutorial to try and
get published some where on the web, would look good on the 'ole resume,
eh? I really want to do one about using adodb. It simply rocks.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I have posted several FAQ and TIP
articles on this list.

This doesn't just exist as a QnA forum -- all of us here appreciate unasked
for pointers, suggestions, observations, etc.

If you've got an article or whatever that you'd like posted, go ahead and
post it here. Post it at PHPBuilder. Devshed. sitepointforums. etc..

go for it -- I'd like to read it. =)

Actually, I know my cousin works for a company that would like to publish
something about PHP 5 for about when it goes live (don't think I'm
letting anything go there, by telling you that - I guess all the major
publishers will be putting smething out about it, about then :)... but I
know they'd be interested in anyone who had enough willingness to get
themselves up to speed with version 5 in advance. I'll ask him for
details and see how far ahead they are with their plans.
