beginning_php thread: sending multipart/mixed email from php does not show up correctly in Outlook

Message #1 by tuomaskesti@h... on Sun, 6 Oct 2002 17:23:35
I am trying to send a multipart email from php script (example from
Beginning PHP4, page 530) using Windows2000/IIS5 SMTP virtual server but
the message does not show up correctly in Outlook 2000 or Outlook
Express. If I send the email to for example hotmail, everything is fine.
It seems like Outlook would not understand MIME version 1.0 but this
cannot be true??? I've searched through multiple KB's including
Microsoft's but have not been able to find anything useful. So if anyone
has seen the same problem or knows what I am doing wrong, please let me
know.

I cannot paste the code here at all that I am using since that has to do
with email sending with attachments and this Wrox's form checking thinks
that I am actually sending an email with attachments using this form. So
every time when I try to do that, the submission gets rejected. Anyway,
if anybody has tried the example that I mention here and gets the same
problem in Outlook, please let me know. All I get in Outlook is the
warning message that is coded in the mail header that the message
is 'multipart message in MIME format' and that it cannot be displayed
correctly. After that message, I get the mail body and the attachment as
text after the body.

If anybody knows something about this, please let me know.

Thanks,

Tuomas
