beginning_php thread: Installing PHP

Message #1 by Sam24champ@a... on Tue, 29 Oct 2002 16:45:45 EST
Hi,

I am currently reading Beginning PHP4 and it recommended me to download PHP
from php4win.de which was out of commission. I went to php.net and
downloaded the binary file, but it was corrupted. I then tried the PHP
installer from php.net, but I am having a lot of problems setting some of
the variables in the php.ini file.

I am currently using PWS but nothing I try is working. I would like any
advice on switching servers, where to get PHP downloads, how to fix my
problems, etc.
I also tried PhpTriad but I am having the same problems that I am having with
the PHP installer from php.net. All advice is welcome. Thanks

That you're having so many problems leads me to think that your problem lies
elsewhere within Windows, not with PHP.

I've never had a problem installing PHP, and I've done it a whole bunch of
times. I just downloaded the most recent binary release of PHP from php.net,
and it wasn't corrupt. I got mine from the first USA mirror, us.php.net.

Since php.net is the language's home page, you should always check there for
the most recent releases.

That's also where you'll find the manual, which answers 99% of all questions
asked on this list.

Good luck,

Nik
