beginning_vb thread: Re: Package and Deployment wizard compile error 80010108

Crystl32.dep
"Unexpected error number 80010108 has occurred: Automation Error. The
object invoked has disconnected from its clients."

An application error then appears causing VB to close.

Solution

This error occurs due to a problem in the Crystal control dependency file -
 Crystl32.dep.

This is a known issue and has been tracked. The Track ID is 53800.

To resolve this error, open Crystl32.dep in Notepad or a similar text
editor and modify the section:

[CRPE32.DLL]
Dest=$(WinSysPath)
Uses1=CRPE32.DLL
Uses2

So that it reads:

;[CRPE32.DLL]
;Dest=$(WinSysPath)
;Uses1=Crpe32.dll
;Uses2=

Also ensure that the Crystl32.dep file is in the \WinNT\System32 folder.

If you really want to create stable, reliable, powerful and flexible
distribution packages...do yourself a favor and forget the PDW. Use
InstallShield (my preferred option) or Wise. The learning curve is greater
but you won't regret it.

	I tried removing all the crystal report components and the wizard was
successfully done. :( But I need to use crystal report :(

	Another problem is when I run the set up file there is an error
registering msado25.tlb. what is this? What causes the error?

	And also on the wizard I have included MDAC_TYP.exe on the installation
but its nowhere to be found the apps folder? also there is no unintall option.

	Any ideas?

Thanks,

Enzo c",)
