Message #1 by "Arvind Pathak" <arvind_pathak@h...> on Thu, 20 Dec 2001 13:31:12 +0000
Hi Friends,

I have complited payroll program in Oracle (Version 8i & VB6) now I want to

make report for that purpose. I have installed Crystal Report Version 8.5 on

my machine but while executing report through vb6 I am getting Error "Cannot

open SQL Server"

I am trying Following code:

  Private Sub Command1_Click()

    CrystalReport1.ReportFileName="D:\Report\Report1.Rpt"

    CrystalReport1.Action = 1

  End Sub

Note:(1) While staying in the report disigner when I am keeping "Save Data

With Report" check than report will not give any error but when I am doing

any change to the table it is not reflecting in the report.

(2) While staying in the report disigner when I am keeping "Save Data With

Report" Uncheck than report will give error "Cannot Open SQL Server".

I would be very grateful for your help.

Awaiting your e-mail.

Thanks in advance

Arvind Pathak

crystal reports require a separate connectivity to the database.

you will have to use login methods provided where in you can specify

the

password server name and userid.

          This problem does not come when you are opening any report saved

with data. Because once this option is set the report becomes static. the

report does not give you live or fresh data. it just shows you the data

with which it was last saved. hence no connectivity to the database

is required.
