crystal_reports thread: Crystal Reports and Visual Basic

Message #1 by "Robert Mottram" <rmottram@b...> on Wed, 17 Apr 2002 10:15:06
I am just starting to look at using Crystal Reports to produce reports
from Visual Basic and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on how
to get start or knows of some good web pages which might give me some
examples of how to get crystal reports working from Visual Basic. I want
to be able to pass variables from VB to Crystal and, if possible, change
the selection SQL statment of crystal from VB

Thanks a lot

Rob, there are a few different ways to make Crystal work from VB. In the
past I've used the Crystal ActiveX Control. The new approach is to use the
Crystal Report Designer Component (RDC). I think Seagate has some
documentation on their website, check out
www.seagatesoftware.com/products/dev_zone. I've also found a reference
manual from the Crystal folks to be helpful, its called 'Crystal Reports,
Developer's Guide'.
