crystal_reports thread: runtime error

Message #1 by "arica alagh" <aarica@h...> on Tue, 18 Jun 2002 21:39:47 +0000
Hello,

I have an application made in vb 6 and
sql sever 2000 using crystal reports 5.0. The administrator is trying to
install the setup package in the field outside this location in the users
PC. When installing the setup package the setup is successfully installed.
On some of the machines it works fine but in others it gives an error. The
start up form has
couple of command buttons that directs out different reports. It is when the
user clicks on the cmdbuttons that they get error, and it states as

"Runtime error 20536 unable to connect invalid logon parameters"

ODBC Connection is made with systemDSN. that has been checked and is fine.
the connection string is as follows

frmreport.Crpt1.Connect
"DSN=dev;uid=x6t;pwd=cu;dsq=dev"

any idea what is going on as I am out of time?? Any help would be really
appreciated.

Arica.

That's why I always create a dsn-less connection.

Well, when the dsn is created and the windows nt login is selected
instead of sql server authentication, the test connection can still
succeed.

You must therefore create a dsn using the userid and password provided
and not select windows nt login which I think is the case.

I have not used NT Login but used sql server authentication using a login
and password entered by the user.
