Create default constraint of NULL for the date column in the database, then
if you don't provide the value it will insert NULL.

Subject: Null dates
I'm trying to create an Insert statement that will handle null date values.
If I pass a date, my statement works fine. However, if there is no date
entered into the form, the value "1/1/1900" is displayed when the record is
viewed. I can't seem to figure out how to stop the "1/1/1900" from showing
up in the record. FYI, I have three date values in this table that I have
to deal with in the same manner.
