sql_language thread: How can you connect to SQL server 7 over the net?

If the problem that you are having is how to configure the firewall, it
all depends on how you have things configured.  Supposing that you have it
like this:

Internet user  ----  Web server  ---- Firewall  ---- SQL Server

Then you would set the web server to connect to the firewall's address. 
Unless you have changed the port in the DSN, this connection will be on
port 1433.  So, the firewall would be set to gateway port 1433 (sql
server's tcp port) to port 1433 on the sql server.
