Default Getting ODBC Error from Paul Wilton's Sample Code

I am working with Paul Wilton's Beginning JavaScript.

I am a systems engineer (not trying to be pompous, just hoping that you have some empathy for a systems engineer that is trying to learn what you guys do for a living)and know how to set up IIS and PWS and believe all is correct.

Problem is, I am getting the following error response (I am running XP Service Pack 2 and leveraging MS Access2000)

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
/awalkontheserverside/displaystock.asp, line 19

Browser Type:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

Page:
GET /awalkontheserverside/displaystock.asp

Time:
Monday, January 10, 2005, 10:10:45 AM

I have seen 2 other unanswered posts regarding this, please help!
Many thanks and Best Regards,

Chicago

Default

Figured it out and it turned out to be a "system" thing in a very ironic way.

If you are having this same problem, turn to page 696 and look at the diagram to set up your DSN. The diagram shows the "System DSN" Tab highlighted and not the User DSN, that is why it failed.

Hope this helps next person.

P.S. Don't forget to delete your User DSN name, not wise to have 2 different types of DSN variables with the same name.....
