Default How to pronounce GIF

An excellent book, but I must quibble on one point. On page 104, the book says the GIF can be pronounced either "gif" or "jif". This is not correct. There is only one correct pronunciation according to the GIF inventor and that is "jif", as in "Choosy mothers choose Jiff".

Strange; I've only ever heard it pronounced 'gif', with a hard g.

Then you need to hang out with better informed people. They assume that, since the "G" stands for "graphics", that the gif should have a hard g sound like graphics. But that would be wrong. The guy that invented GIF would naturally be the expert on how it's pronounced, and he says "jiff".

Not a big deal, actually.

I believe that you can announce it either way.
Furthermore, some people pronounce each letter, as in "Gee Eye F"
