Lock out doesn't seem to be the problem. I am able to sign in then change the password and after the first attempt it doesn't let me use the new hashed password from the email message.
With a new account? Or are you able to make it work with an existing one? If so, how?

What are the exact steps you're following? Normally, it should work the way you describe so maybe you're doing something you're not telling us yet?

Default password recovery

I think I have a voodoo machine or something.....now it is working fine. I don't understand...didn't change anything. Thought maybe it was the access I granted to the user...changed it to owner and back to full membership and it works both ways, so that wasn't it. I am working on a Dev machine not sure if that has anything to do with it and using a Firefox browser, not IE. I appreciate all your help. I wish I knew what went wrong, in case it happens again. I do have a problem with the login control staying in logged in status when the browser is closed and then brought back up, still shows user logged in....that is not ideal. Also when log out and then hit the browsers back button, it will be logged in again.... Any ideas on that?

I think it just appears you're logged in and what you're seeing is actually a cached page. Try Ctrl+R or Ctrl+F5 to force a refresh. If you're no longer logged in, it's a caching issue.

Searching for "avoid cache asp.net" on Google should bring up some useful stuff.

Cheers,

Imar
