Default Quicktime 7 and iTunes 5 breaks the BlackBerry JDE

Hi all.

I ran across this when installing the public pre-release of the Windows version of QuickTime 7 and again when I installed iTunes 5.0 (which installs the final release of QuickTime 7).

If you start the Email or MDS Simulators, they stop immediately with an error.

To fix this you have to undo a few things that the QuickTime installer does. Nothing major, just removing a couple of PATH statements and variables. The great thing here is that you can get the BlackBerry JDE working properly again and iTunes and QuickTime continue to function normally. After all, we all need music while we work right?

  • Remove the CLASSPATH pointing to QTJava.zip
  • Remove the other variable pointing QTJava.zip
  • Remove the QuickTime path from PATH

Cheers.
