Default Reference to 2003, chapter 21

On the page 660, chapter 23, there is the phrase "As of August 2003, the .NET Framework supports the following...".
Why not to refer to 2005?

I don't have the book, but couldn't it be that the author is referring to the date something was added to the .NET Framework?

Since .NET 2 builds on top of .NET 1.0 and 1.1, it's quite possible that some features in the .NET 2 framework are available since August 2003....
