Default source code usage : copyright/license

hi Jackwind -

on p. xix it states that we can type in the source code manually or use the source code files that accompany the book.

the source code samples for download are copyrighted.
if i use the source code samples from download and modify them like samplelistviewer and bugTrackerJFace, is it ok to put that on my website to show people? different people on the net told me that if my work is a derived work based on the authors original code i still need to contact the author to see if he will allow me to use it possibly under a license.

can we modify the downloaded source code and incorporate it into our program and what would be the terms of usage? is there a license available? most of the java libraries are lgpl.

in delphi i remember that there were data aware controls. you bought a license from borland for the use of development environment and all the cool pre-made controls. the code in your book is the closest i've seen to being able to construct controls that are data aware without it coming pre-packaged by a corporation like borland.

thanks for any assistance,
