In searching online (Amazon and the like) I have seen a few titles by Robert Vieira. Including a listing for "Professional SQL Server 2000 Programming" a 2nd EDITION ... that has an different ISBN (1861004486) at an EARLIER copyright date then that listed on the WROX website (ISBN: 0764543792)!

As a Wrox fan, I am anxious to read this book as I have heard great things ... but before I commit - what is the most up-to-date ISBN/Title/Edition/Copyright? AND is there another expected release that I should hold off to get.

What differences are there between the two (other then the obvious price and copy date :) )?

The most current Printing of this book is the ISBN 0764543792. That is to say the book was repackaged with a Wiley ISBN. The content is basically the same. There is not an actual 2nd edition of this title, just a new printing.

NOTE: We are working with the author to do a Professional SQL Server 2005 Programming, but that is a ways away.

According to Amazon.co.uk it's going to be published in Feb 2006.

i have purchased SQL Server 2005 Express Edition - STARTER KIT ... and it lists the book on the back but not on this website. i find this to be very strange. some websites state it has a September release date but then why isn't it on this site?

i feel very strongly that this book should be in the Wrox collection.

Well gee, the publication date of this book keeps getting pushed further and further back; according to what I've seen now, it's November 2006. Will we actually get this book before the next version of SQL Server comes out?

We did go ahead and buy Beginning SQL Server 2005 Programming, and it's a near word-for-word rehash of some of the chapters from Professional SQL Server 2000 Programming with a very VERY little bit of 2005-specific information thrown in. Where's the GOOD stuff?
