Appreciation.
Wow, first post!
Can I just state how much I appreciate the advent of this book? I have been tracking off & on the Cocoon (and apache/xml) project(s) for a few years now. I have wanted to publish with xml for the multilingual capabilities, and in the meantime svg came along. Finally, I am getting into the actual process of installing Tomcat and Cocoon, and all the issues involved such as the endorsed libs problems with Java 1.4.2, etc. And right on time comes this book.
In my research I have seen persons on the Cocoon users' list mentioning that they had created portals with many of the software packages mentioned throughout this book, but as I am trying to get my mind around practically all of it (I was an English major, not a CS person) I never really got the grip on how it all interrelated. Or even what the programs did. This book clearly does that for me.
I also really like how Theodore lays it out in a way where he explains it from the xml-insides fundamentals first, and it acccumulates through the book--seemingly one package explanation necessary for the next.
Thanks much to you, Theodore and Wrox.
