  I want to know that:
what types of platform supports oracle 8?

Pretty much anything you like.

Not sure about Linux support as far back as 8i as thats was released a fair few years ago, but it's available for Linux currently.

Was there a particular platform you had in mind?

Specifically i want to know whether oracle 8(not 8i) works properly in windows 2000, xp. Thanks in advance.

usually oracle8 work with win98...for oracle 8i there is 2 version of cd ...1 for win98 and the other one for winxp/2000. U must also setup the listerner at oracle8 on win 98 if U want anybody to access the database

But when I installed oracle 8i in windows xp professional then it is not installed and when I deinstalled it then it was harmful for machine i.e. the PC did not shut down but when i installed it in 2000 platform from the same cd then it is installed properly and now it works properly. why?
