The confusion is that which version to choose, as there are two versions availabe viz.

There are three versions available

Enterprise Edition
Standard Edition
Developer Edition

The main difference is licensing. Enterprise edition allows MS fail over functionality (very weak solution), lesser editions don't. It also allows more memory, cpu's, etc. Most people use Standard Server edition for production, and the developer edition for their development. Go to MS web site to see the latest and detailed licensing differences.
