Maintaining state in a TreeView

Hi,
I’m building a site that’s utilizing master pages. The layout is made up of a master page with a TreeView on the left that was derived from an xml file of navigational urls. So as you expand the tree and select the url you wanted to go to. The url you just went to is a page that was made from the same master page as this one. The problem I’m having is this, the tree is now collapsed, it did not retain its state. I was under the impression that master pages held the state across multiple pages. If anyone has any ideas or solutions please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Your post needs a little more clarification..
What treeview component are you using?
I'm not sure what you mean by "master pages", do you mean default pages?

Most likely you'll have to pass parameters through your query string and update your desired treeveiw node.

You can find a good treeview component at: http://www.obout.com/t2/download.aspx

Add this piece of HTML in the <ASP:TreeView> tag
                        <DataBindings>
                            <asp:TreeNodeBinding DataMember="SiteMapNode" NavigateUrlField="Url" TextField="title" />
                        </DataBindings>
