Visual Studio 2003 vs. Visual Studio 2005

Hello,

I am new to C#. I am trying to study it and I got the book Professional C# 2005.

Is this book would be my best bet to start with? I am a C++ programmer with MFC knowledge.

How important is it to upgrade my Visual Studio 2003 to 2005 and if so, which version of Visual Studio should I get: Professional vs. Standard.

Thanks
Eitan

It will be a good book for you. If you haven't done so already, go to the books download area, and download the Bonus Chapter: Appendix D - C# for C++ Developers

Regarding the upgrade, then it depends on your situation. If money is no issue, upgrade. If you would rather buy flowers to your girlfriend, then stick to 2003. You can always upgrade later.

Wether to get professional or standard again it depends on your situation.

You can compare the two here:

Furthermore you can download a free IDE - Visual C# Express - and try C# and .NET 2.0 on for size, before you buy Visual studio 2005:
