Form's Unbound field question

I have created a table with the following fields:
Type, Total Value

I have created a separated Blank form and inserted an unbound field.

Here is what I am trying to do:

In the form, I want the unbound field to reflect the Total Value based on the type field.

For example,
Type Total Value
607 900
608 100
607 100

I want the separate form’s unbound field to show the value of all the 607 types which would be 1000.
I have been playing around with the dsum function but it is not working in the unbound field.
I created a query that work but when I try and insert the query into the field control source I am getting errors.
I know that I am close but don’t think I am getting it.

How many types and values are you working with here?

Why don't you bind the form to the table and then just show the total value when the type is selected? Just lock and disable the total value field if you don't want the data changed. Do we need more info?

Am I able to bind the field to more than one form? I have this field bound to another form. Will it cause a problem with my other form?

Nope, bind away. What are you trying to do with them?

I am just trying to show a total value of a certain type. Kind of like an inventory of how many of one type that there are in the db.
My query looks like this:

SELECT Sum([TotalCount]) AS Total
FROM [Ticket Inventory]
WHERE ((([Ticket Inventory].TicketType)="607"));
