smart card reader on client using asp.net

I made a web application for medical purposes. And i need to read from smart card readers that are found on client's computers.
The smart cards that i'm using have com dll that is responsible for reading and writing to it.
Does any body know how to deal with this component and device that are found on client side to read info on cards and deal with them.

ASP.NET is not exactly suited for this kind of application. In order to use a COM binary you'll have to create a client applet or Active X control that gets downloaded to the client's machine (this introduces all kinds of software dependencies, of course if you are working with a known piece of hardware you will have some knowledge of the client machine capabilities). Then you'll have to communicate back to the server with the information gathered from it. You may be better off developing a thin client app that gets downloaded from your site.

I tried to use Activex and I used Wininet.dll APIs to send data from client to the server via the activeX, but the problem is in the security on client's computers (block ActiveX,FireWall..)

That's not surprising. You'll probably be better off to create a downloadable app. Use web services to communicate back to the web server.
