CH18 - IIS Problems - Server Application Error

I'm trying to deploy the application to my local machine running IIS. My OS is Windows XP, and my primary account does NOT have admin rights (I have a secondary account that does have local admin privileges if I need to use them).

I've followed the step-by-step instructions in the "Try It Out"s starting on page 647 and page 653. However, when I attempt to access the application by going to http://localhost, I get the following:

Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.
I've tried going into the Security settings on the folders for the website and granting FULL CONTROL to EVERYONE, but I still get the same problem. So, I don't think it's a permissions issue.

Looking at the System event log (because I'm not an admin, I can't access the Security log), I can see an error that seems to have occurred about the right time. That error is:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10016
Date: 4/2/2010
Time: 3:09:49 PM
User: [Domain]\[UserID]
Computer: [ComputerName]
Description:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064}
to the user [Domain]\[UserID] SID (S-1-5-21-1424527620-3073638778-1504134130-35114). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
I've gone through the Component Services administration tool and can't find any component with that CLSID.

I have no idea where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

Did you search Googe for this:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=%7B0C...10401dfb0a78c2

It brings up some useful articles on possible problems and solutions. I can't judge for you whether they apply or not, but hopefully you can.

Code:

(I have a secondary account that does have local admin privileges if I need to use them).
and

Code:

Looking at the System event log (because I'm not an admin, I can't access the Security log),

These are admin tasks and as such usage of the admin account is more than justified if you ask me. You're making it much harder on yourself by doing this as a non-admin.

Cheers,

Imar
