how can I know from where someone came to mywebsite?

Hi all experts

I wanted to know if there is a way to know the last website the user was in before got into mine.

lets say he came from google into my site to the home page,
and then into my website register page. I want to be able to know in the register page that he came from google.

Thanks in advanced

Barak

Hi there,

You can use

Request.UrlReferrer

or

Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER")

for this. Just make sure you always check for null or empty string values as the value isn't guaranteed to be there. You only get a value when you click a link from one page to another, not when you enter an address in the address bar of the browser directly. Also, security software may strip the referrer.

Hope this helps,

Imar
