Team Foundation server.

I have noticed that when I create a new website in ASP.NET 4.0 that it will create three tabs by default in the Visual Studio development environment. The first tab that it creates is the one for the solution explorer, the other one is for property pages and another one for Team Foundation server. What is Team Foundation server? Is it like Visual Source Save? Should we be concerned about what to do with the Team Foundation server tab? Because it is not mentioned anywhere in your book.

Thank You

Hi there,

Yes, Team Explorer is for Team Foundation Server, Microsoft's "Application Lifecycle Management" tool which includes source control (but way better than source safe), work item management, document management and reporting.

It's an advanced tool and as such way out of scope for this book. You'll find more info about TFS in the following books:

For the purpose of learning ASP.NET using Beginning ASP.NET 4, you can ignore the Team Explorer.

Cheers,

Imar
