have you tried customising your 404 page or using a different one - look in iss site properties custom error tab (you can still use the request.servervariables to strip out the offenting detail.

assuming your using ASP - there are a few methods...

assuming your using ASP - there are a few methods but you will need to pass the values to, say, hidden form objects and then select the appropriate values to fill in your text boxes.
