I noticed in one case you encase your PARID value...

I noticed in one case you encase your PARID value in single quotes (i.e. a string/varchar datatype) and in the first instance, you have it as an integer (no single quotes).

Could that possibly be...

Sorry, my memory with ASP and stored procedures is a bit fuzzy... BUT.. i think you need exec before your procedure name:

ex.

objRS.Open "exec qAllNewBoats", "DSN=Sailor1", adOpenForwardOnly
