For example, http://p2p.wrox.com/pop_profile.asp?...y&id=970. I use those top 10 most recent posts frequently, and it doesn't seem as if there is a convenient way to get to it.

Have you used the "View Active Topics" link in the Forum Tools navigation bar? This sounds like what you're looking for. It will show you new and/or active topics since your last login, or whatever period you like. Clicking on the member name in the listing will take you to that member's profile page.
