You need to master OOP before u can move on to VC++, MFCs are based on the use of classes, first dig further into classes and advanced concepts of OOP, then to template classes, and then move on to MFCs,
I can recommend a book by Ivor Horton(Beginning C++) for both C++ and VC++. it's a wrox press thang.
Spend about 10 hrs everyday on your compiler and make so much use of the examples from the help of your compiler.
