Default Office Document Preview Pictures

When you save an office document, whether it be word, excel, etc., you have the option to save a preview picture of the document. Then, when you select the file in explorer you can see a thumbnail of the document. My question: Is there anyway to access this picture through VBScript. I would like to incorporate this picture into a webpage so you can see the document before you open it. Is there a way to do this. I saw a possible way to do it in C++ on the microsoft site, but I need to do it with a scripting language, preferably with VBScript or Java.
