I suggest starting with Java, and then taking the C++ courses.
In other words, definately take both courses.

If you only have time for one, then take the Java course - it is easier, much more versatile, will lead to paying work much quicker, and is a more "modern" language. Pick up C++ later on your own. I've taken 2 classes in C++, and have only worked a small amount with it. If you find yourself attracted to the type of work C++ is still strongly used for, then learn more C++.

Either way, you will learn a lot.
