Default Intelligent Complaint-need help please

Wrox,

I really hope this post gets someone's attention.

I recently graduated college with a Bachelor's in Information Technology. I felt cheated, as the only programming I was taught was fundamental C++ command-line programming--some stuff that interacted with Linux OS--but nothing real-life.

Then I found Wrox.

I have purchased Beginning VB.NET 2005, VB 2005 Professional, Beginning ASP.NET 2.0, ASP Instant Results and, lastly, Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 and Databases (Kauffman, Milington).

I LOVE Wrox books and will buy NOTHING but Wrox. I really enjoy the structure of the books, the Try it out's help inforce the learning SO beautifully. They also follow my slow learning curve and help emphasize the matter.

Top that off with the help and generosity of some of the authors (I cannot begin to tell you the help that Imar Spaanjaars provided with particular matter)...and I can't see buying another book. I work for a huge telecom company in Kansas City and have referred Wrox tremendously.

I actually cannot wait until Wrox's ASP.NET and Databases Pro comes out.

Ok--so now to the complaint part. Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 and Databases is horrible. It is FULL of errors, incomplete examples--wrong examples and Try it out's that just don't work. I wish SO much that I had been keeping a list of the errors--as I have been reading this book from front to back. Had it not been for the several other Wrox ASP books, I would be lost in some of the examples.

Now--the book has it's use. It illustrates some very good points and has helped me get a better understanding of subject matter--but if I had purchased this book prior to reading any other Wrox ASP books--I would have sworn off Wrox.

I have posted several threads in the "Books" link. I am about 1/2 way through chapter 15--and NOTHING is working like the authors state. I won't delve into examples, as I don't think this is the place to do that---but I am literally close to tears because, unfortunately, I don't know enough about the subject matter to explain why things aren't working like the books says they should.

From the way that they name files (then refer to different names--for example, (making this up as I forget the chapter--but it illustrates the error) TIO-101-BeginningAsp-Ver1.aspx then referring to it as TIO-101-BeginningASP-01.apsx..etc)

I am VERY dissapointed and wish there was a better edited book out for this subject matter. I am really wanting to learn so as to put together a nice site for my church and for the local Knights of Columbus chapter I joined..so I am trying to learn databases and ASP.

Who can I write to about this book? I am not exagerating (forgive all typos) and would encourage people to look at the forum on the book.

I was really hoping to post in the "reader surveys" forum, but noticed it was locked, so please accept my apologies if this is the wrong spot.

I am just extremely dissapointed, frustrated and losing hope in Wrox because of this.

Kind Regards,
Robert Searing
