I've read much of Beginning ASP 3.0 so I'm up to speed on the basics, and I'm doing some work with databases that needs techniques not mentioned (I think!) in that book. eg, how to create a completely new database with ASP. So which book do I go to next?

According to the chart on the back of the book, I should go to either Beginning ASP Databases or Professional ASP 3.0. Looking at the contents pages of those on Amazon.com, it looks as if they reiterate much of the Beginners book with only relatively little more advanced material on any given topic. They are no longer on the shelf at local book stores so I can't flip through them there to see if there's actually a lot more depth under the same section heads.

Would I be better off jumping to Professional ADO RDS with ASP, or getting ADO Programmer's Ref or ASP Programmer's Ref?

I don't need a lot of "hand holding" with whatever new topics are covered.

For the moment I'm ruling out switching to ASP.Net, unless there's a general chorus that that's definitely the way to go.
