Might I suggest that you change the archive checkbox to a radio button, or put a message on the search form that states the search is an either/or proposition - either the archives or the current forum. A radio button implies an either/or situation, whereas a checkbox implies a both condition.
Also, it would be easier to understand the search results if (1) you stated that the archives on the search form are not the same archives on the navigation bar and (2) you let the searcher know the archives on the search form are empty. Perhaps a Search FAQ is in order to prevent others from living through this somewhat frustrating experience.
I would also suggest that you call your new archives something other than archives and the content from the old web site the archives. Using the same term for two very different animals is very confusing!
