Can A97 and A2K co-exist?
Can one have Access 97 and Access 2000 installed on the same computer please?

My understanding is that all Office Applications need to be on the same version, due to shared DLL's etc. The same is true for the same application, and so Access 97 and 2000 will not peacefully exist, if they can even exist together at all.

Until recently I had both A97 and A2k on my system at work. Once A2k was installed I never created anything again with A97, but I noted no problems with either version.

Thanks Loralee. I guess I just have to try it for myself and see. But was looking for other people's experience first.
I note your comments re not going back to A97. But I have an application in A97 distributed to users as an mde file. So I have to keep it updated in that version.
Thanks again. Best wishes,

A97 and A2000 will peacefully co-exist on the same PC, as long as they are installed in seperate directories.
What will cause you problems is that each will try and grab the various Access file extensions. You have to train yourself to open the correct version of Access and then open the database you wish to work on, rather than just double-clicking your database file.
This also makes it very difficult to distribute databases to users with multiple Access installations. Inadvertant database conversions and corruptions is the usual result!

Thanks Brian. Well, the opinions started from the "impossible" to now the "possible with caution". Now I just have to get my hands dirty and try it out.
Best wishes,
