   I am back to this forums. Thank you for all the replies! I used the code from Bob and made some modifications.
   Now I need some hints from here to solve my problems. I have a dialog named "menu" consisting two items: client name(combo box); status(check box). If I select a client name and the check box is checked, then click open button, I should see a specific client whose orders were closed in a form(named"ordres). Else If I don't select client name and check box is checked, I will see all the open oreder for all clients; else(don't select client name and leave the check box unchecked), I would see all the records.
   I tried several ways to set criteria to the record source under the form, but fail!:(

 I use a dialog "menu" to collect search criteria.

 The "menu" dialog includes:
 client(combo box)
 Open_order(check box)
 submit(button)
 Private Sub submit_Click()
   DoCmd.OpenForm "order"
 End Sub
  (I am wondering how can I set criteria here and parse it to the "order" form)

 After the user click "submit" button in the "menu", a form named "order" should display all records which satisfy with the criteria.

 In the "order" form, I had a query

 My questions are as follows:
 If user doesn't select anything from the combo box(I should see all the clients in the "order" form).
  If the open_order isn't checked, I would see all the open orders in the "order" form.
  I don't know how can I set these criteria correctly in the query under the "order" form?
