Do you have a table with the serial number? If not, where are you looking at pulling it in from?

What do you mean that you want the serial number to come automatic? Is it stored anywhere in your database? Is the serial number from a computer? That is the only item that will report a serial number to your database that I know of.

Are you by chance looking for a series of numbers ie. 1,2,3 like an autonumber field? If so, what you could do is to add field to your table called Serial Number and set the datatype to AutoNumber.
