Default numbers on grouped records

I need a query to do an sequential record numbering on groups
of records as in the following example where the number field
is generated based on the record and location

Record Location Number
A London 1
A Paris 2
B London 1
B Madrid 2
B Tripoli 3
C Lima 1
C Berlin 2
C Moscow 3
C Cairo 4

What do you mean? Where is the sequential numbering? Is this the A, A, B, B, or the 1, 2, 1, or a column not shown?

Do you need to have the sequential numbering in a report? If so, that is easy to do. Why in the query?

So mkapler,

Do you want these sequential numbers in a report? Like mmcdonal mentionned it is very easy to do in a report. Query cannot do this.

Please reply so that we know what you want. Thanks

Daniel
