Splitting stuff up means some overhead and some headache NOW to get things in good order. However, in the long run it will simplify things a great deal because the queries built on a good table structure will be much simpler to create and maintain.

It's like saying don't clean up your room because you know where everything is. The point is that someone else inheriting it, or trying to do a NEW task given the mess, will give you MORE headaches in the future than the headache you get cleaning up your room NOW.

Trust me... clean it up!

actually, now that i think about it... splitting up this particular table does have undisputable advantages. You need a foreign-key to prevent a manager w/ subordinates from being deleted. You would need two distinct talbles to do that. I don't think you can do SELF-REFERENCING in Access. Can you?
