i have 2 tables one has info on books the other has the info on who has the book. there are several copies of the book so multiple people can have multiple copies of books. i have a a form set up whic allows me to add new books and it has a sub form so i can enter who has it. the problem i'm having is i would like to somehow use a drop down to select people who have the book. either have a dropdown in the subform or on the original form. any idea's

You would have to redesign the table the is in the subform so that you would enter a the borrower's name using a drop down. You would have to create a table of borrower's, and then create a look up to the borrower's table from the junction table in your subform.

You would thus have:

tblBook
BookID
BookTitle
(other book info...)

tblBorrower
BorrowerID
LName
FName
(other borrower info...)

tblLoan - In your subform
LoanID
BookID - look up to tblBook
BorrowerID - look up to tblBorrower
(other loan info...)

This would allow you to look up borrowers in the book table form, and to look up books in the Borrower table form as well.
