Default Pros and Cons of upgrading Access 97

I am researching business reasons to Upgrade MS Access 97 to a new version. Most of my experience is in 97 and a little in 2k. What are some justifiable business reasons to upgrade to a newer version?

Thanks

It is dangerous to use an unsupported database?

Ease of use of the newer version (less development dollars)

How extensive is your legacy app? There would be some work in upconverting, but it shouldn't be significant.

mmcdonal,

Thanks for the reply.

The legacy apps are numerous and across multiple Lines of Business and our Desktop Support area is resistant to upgrading because of the number and sophistication of some of the applications. Currently, The 97 version is the only version that is authorized at this time. However, I am trying to convince management that the organization needs to upgrade to a newer version. The main problem that I have is that I do not know enough about the newer versions to make a solid stand. In addition, I have only found a limited amount of information that identifies the main differences between the versions, especially 97.

Is there a good source for this info?
Is there a notable difference in performance, Security, functionality and so forth?

I know that there are differences in the jet engine, the way the mdb and mde files are structured.

Try this page for basic product information: http://www.microsoft.com/office/edit...o/compare.mspx

It has been so long since 2000/XP/ and even 2003 came out that I couldn't tell you the development differences.

You may consider waiting for Office 2007 due out later this year.
