There are several 'tracker' Excel workbooks on our intranet SharePoint service. These are updated on a daily basis by several people in different organisations. I wish in Access to join some common fields and build a complete picture. I dont wish to import each XLS.

In Access File>Get External Data>Link Tables I enter the URL as I see it in Excel properties http://itd-hk0......Delivery Tracker.xls but the Link Spreadsheet wizard says it is "unable to access information in the file". :-(

Bypassing Sharepoint, I put the URL into Explorer and it opens.

Is Access 2003 able to do what I'm expecting?

Hi,

  I think you rproblem is that the Excel workbooks are actually SQL blob fields in the WSS content database. So Access won't be able to see anything since it can't drill down into that field type.

   Can you convert the Excel spreadsheets to SharePoint lists? That way you can attach Access to the SQL content table and take your updates in real time.
