Hi,

I am trying to move data from an Excel spreadsheet to an Access database. Unfortunately, the spreadsheets are being sent to me from a third party and the sheets are protected.

All I want to do is read in the value of a range of cells, but some of the cells while displaying a value actually have formulas and the value property for the cell is empty.

How can I capture the displayed value of a cell with a formula to update my database table?

Normally you do not store the calculated values in the database. You perform the same calculations in your database as needed. This follows the Rules of Data Normalization.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the source data for the calculation is on a separate spreadsheet with the third party. The cells are displaying the value from broken links to the other spreadsheet.

Since this is third party data you will probably should to check with them about this. I would recommend verifying that you have the rights to extract the data.
