Yes it is for a friend and i'm a total beginer, i've used access once about 5 years ago, the only reason he asked me is coz i'm good with computers.

Well, since you're only "good with computers", but he's the one who is supposed to have learned how to do the work, I guess he would be better suited to writing the database.
So not only have you wasted all our time by having us read your posts, you've also wasted your friend's time by not telling him that you don't know DAO from ADO
