Default Login failed for user '(null)'

I'm trying to connect with a SQL Server database. The following connection string is used: "Data Source=TS-GENT-003;Initial Catalog=CBO;User Id=chello;Password=chello;"

The user is created in SQL server and has the appropriate rights on the database. The SQL server security is set on mixed mode.

Before using these settings, I just set the connection string to integrated security=SSPI.

The error it generates is: Reason: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection". I'm doing the connect inside a serviced component, which is running in Library mode. The serviced component is called from a web service.

What do I need to do in order to connect with my database?

best regards,
Pieter

I am having a simular problem. I get the same message when I try to connect to a database on another server on the network. I am programming with VB.NET doing an ASP.Net page. When I try to connect to a DB on the local machine it works with no problem. When I change to try to connect a an identical DB on a different server I get the same error message.

Somebody must have the answer to this.

try this

Go to Enterprise Manager and expand the SQL Server Group until you find your SQL Server instance. Right-click on the instance and choose Properties -> Security tab. If you see Windows only in the Authentication then there's your problem. Simply choose Windows and SQL Server. Otherwise, you have to wait for the poster with the right answer to your problem. :)

cheers

I removed the user in the database manager and add the user again and choosed him/her from the user list. In my case the user only had a name not a server/name.

what do u mean by:
Quote:
quote: In my case the user only had a name not a server/name.
If u mean ur ConnectionString, could u send ur string?! & tell more what is ur problem & what u want to do?!
If u wanna connect a Server it must have a server to mention what server u r connection to!

Im waitng...
