Default beginning j2ee 1.4 - prob with cloudscape

The 'beginning j2ee 1.4' book makes use of the free cloudscape 4.0 database server that comes with j2ee sdk 1.4.

The problem is I cant find that version of the j2ee sdk on the sun website, and the new version (1.4_beta2) comes with a pointbase database and not cloudscape!

Tried downloading cloudscape from IBM but its only available on trial.

Any suggestions

We believe that the book you are referring to is not Ivor Horton's book, but by Weaver. If that is the case, than Wiley did not purchase the book you have from liquidation. We did have all code here to avoid customer service issues, but we had to remove all code for books that we do not own last month. The code you want should be at www.apress.com.

There used to be another topic on here about this very subject, but it looks like they removed all topics for this book when they removed the sample code. It said the J2EE 1.4 SDK reference server no longer includes cloudscape, but instead includes another database called Pointbase. Unfortunately we are left to figure out how to use it by looking elsewhere, or to hook up another database like Oracle or MySql.
