Hi there,

Are you trying to use DataBinding? In that case, I think you're referring to Eval (with an l instead of an 1).
Since you didn't post all your code, I can't be sure, but it looks to me that could be the problem.

Cheers,

Imar

        <asp:HyperLink id="HyperLink2" runat="server"
        CssClass="DepartmentSelected"
        NavigateUrl='<%# "../default.aspx?DepartmentId=" &
        DataBinder.Eva1(container.DataItem, "departmentId") &
        "&DepartmentIndex=" & Container.ItemIndex %>'
        Text='<%# DataBinder.Eva1(Container.DataItem, "Name") %>'>
        </asp:HyperLink>
    </SelectedItemTemplate>
    <ItemTemplate>
     »
        <asp:HyperLink id="HyperLink1" runat="server"
        CssClass="DepartmentUnselected"
        NavigateUrl='<%# "../default.aspx?DepartmentId=" &
        DataBinder.Eva1(container.DataItem, "departmentId") &
        "&DepartmentIndex=" & Container.ItemIndex %>'

Well, it's what I though it was (did you even try my recommendation??)
Quote:
quote:<asp:DataList id="List" runat="server">
    <SelectedItemTemplate>
     »
        <asp:HyperLink id="HyperLink2" runat="server"
        CssClass="DepartmentSelected"
        NavigateUrl='<%# "../default.aspx?DepartmentId=" &
        DataBinder.Eva1(container.DataItem, "departmentId") &
        "&DepartmentIndex=" & Container.ItemIndex %>'
        Text='<%# DataBinder.Eva1(Container.DataItem, "Name") %>'>
        </asp:HyperLink>
    </SelectedItemTemplate>
It says Eva1 and not Eval.

Cheers,

Imar

What language are you using? Maybe & should in fact be & to concatenate?

It's not clear where you get your data binding from, so I am not sure what the problem is..... Is this the exact code from the book? If so, compare your code with the original downloadable samples....

Cheers,

Imar
